CALL JUST CAME FROM DEBORAH

Praise God for good news from Deborah Jamison.  She just phoned to say Sandy is out of surgery.  The doctor said it was one of the more difficult he has done but successful and should help her.  Deborah will stay with Sandy and Steve is flying in tonight to be there as well.  They will give us more information later.  Thanks for prayers for Sandy, the family and those who were part of the surgical team.

Dear Jean,

Sandy has come through her first post-op night and doing pretty well with main challenge being pain
management.  She reached the regular neurosurgery unit at 10:30 pm. She had a laminectomy at
C2 with 2 new rods placed C2-6, a tremendous amount of scar tissue and inflammation was present
that had to be cleaned out to decompress her spinal cord.  Her neck was also mostly straightened
instead of the tilt to one side.  Her hands are still both numb but it will take time to know the long term
picture and how much the spinal cord will recover from being pinched and battered.  Her spirit is good
when we get ahead of the pain.  Discharge may be possible to home by this Sunday.

Steve arrived last night so we are fortunate to be together.  Sandy is certain it is the blanket of
prayers sent up for her that has brought her through to a brighter today.

Our gratitude to all,     Deborah

It is wonderful to be able to report that Sandy was discharged from the hospital yesterday (Saturday) 3 days post-surgery.
A true miracle.  Steve and I drove her back to her home here in Mechanicsburg, where I will stay with her for some days.
Generally she is doing well with the biggest problem being pain control, which is quite severe but we work to keep up and
stay ahead as much as possible.  The encouraging development is gradual return of more normal feeling in her hands.

Thanks again to everyone for prayer support and kindness,

Deborah

Sandy’s home address and cards welcome!  Some phone calls  later this week when the pain
is under better control.

This afternoon I phoned Sandy Jamison.  Amazing that it is just 8 days since surgery.  She has bone stimulator
equipment that ticks away but you do not hear it while you are talking to her but she hears it.
Deborah is still with her but will be leaving tomorrow (Friday).
A friend will come from DC to be there for the weekend.  On Tuesday another friend will take Sandy
to Philadelphia for a follow up with the surgeon.
Steve obtained a special flat for the family to use in Philadelphia that was very helpful as Steve and
Deborah spent time with Sandy.
At this time Sandy says that phone calls are easier for her so do give a call    1-717-691-4755
