Reed, William A.’ 80, resident of Westland, MI, passed away on August 22 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Livonia, MI. He was the third son of his parents, Anna Abigail Paxton and Glenn Patterson Reed, former Presbyterian missionaries in South Sudan. Bill attended American elementary schools in Egypt and Ethiopia and the U.S. and was graduated from Haverford High School, PA. He graduated from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA. He served in the U.S. Army in USASA in the Far East. He had a working knowledge of Arabic and Mandarin. Bill had a lifelong love of music, singing in choirs and quartets as well as arranging and composing. He enjoyed writing and non-fiction stories from his varied experiences. Bill is survived by three brothers: John McNary, David Templeton, and George Campbell Reed; his former wife, Harriette Bearss; children Jonathan of Westland, MI: and Karen of South Bend, IN; and grandson Paxton Reed.
