Jean,

I am sad to report that Stephanie Dillon Goldman died last Thursday, May 4. Her daughter Anna called me this morning to share the sad news. Stephanie died with both of her children, Mac and Anna, and all 4 of her grandchildren at her side. She was 69 years old.

Stephanie was a dear, dear friend of mine at Schutz — and we have kept in touch ever since. She was a student at Schutz for only two years (1961-1963), but I think she made an impact on all the high school students who were at Schutz at the time. She was phenomenally talented as a student, as a leader and as a public speaker. She was, indeed, a force of nature. She and I spent many hours at Schutz discussing philosophy, religion, politics, history, and life in general. She had a profound effect on my developing self. I loved her dearly.

Stephanie went to Skidmore College, married David Goldman, whom she met in New York City, and they have two fabulous children, Mac and Anna. She worked as a Special Ed teacher in New York City. She threw herself into that difficult job, with all her heart and mind.

Stephanie attended the big Schutz reunion in Slippery Rock in 1999. She always spoke gratefully and fondly of her time at Schutz. She loved and admired George Meloy. I know that there are some Schutz grads who might want to know of her passing. Mike Dillon’s email address is: ‪[email protected]

Thanks for all that you still do for our Schutz family!

Love, Mary Beth
