Please share with your respective contacts that my mother Mary Lou Lorimer died on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Monte Vista Grove Homes Health Center in Pasadena, California. Mom was 93 years old. During her final years, she suffered from severe dementia but still maintained a cheerful demeanor and brightened people’s days with her wonderful smile. Her passing came just slightly less than a year after Dad’s death on May 11, 2016.

Mom was a beloved wife to my father, Jack Lorimer, and a wonderful mother to my sister Kathy and me. Over the years, she created a welcoming home to entertain many friends and family members, whether the residence was a Nile houseboat, Sidi Bishr cabin, Cyprus tent, New York City apartment, or houses in Heliopolis, Maadi, New Wilmington, and Pasadena. As a Westminster College business graduate, Mom was able to partner with Dad in their extensive mission work in Egypt, where they lived for over 30 years. Mom enjoyed many close friendships during her life and loved spending time catching up on the latest mission and family news. She liked the outdoors, especially hiking and swimming, and excelled at arranging both small and large gatherings. A service celebrating her life will be held at Monte Vista Grove Homes at a yet to be determined date later this summer.
Thank you. Sue Lorimer
